Models and Sculpting Assistants for new Kader Attia Exhibition
The Henry Art Gallery and internationally-known artist Kader Attia are looking for female volunteers to create life-size sculptural figures to be used in the upcoming Henry exhibition Kader Attia: New Works.
Dates: February 22nd-24th (Friday through Sunday)
Time: 10a-5p each day
Commitment: All Three Days

6 Models (between 5’-5’6” tall, 110-130 lbs)

The Process
Kader Attia will be present to personally train volunteers in the sculpting. Models, dressed in tight fitting clothing, will pose in a kneeled position while being wrapped in aluminum foil by sculpting assistants to create a body cast. The process for each casting takes about 20 minutes; models must be in good enough physical condition to maintain a kneeling position for 20 minutes at a time. Models will be given rest periods between posing. We will be creating 150 sculptures for this exhibition (about 50 per day).

About Kader Attia
Kader Attia acclaimed French-born artist has in the last few years created one-man exhibitions in Boston, Newcastle, Berlin, Haifa, Grenoble, Lyon, Stockholm, London, and Paris. Kader Attia: New Works at the Henry (opening March 1st) will be the first large-scale exhibition of his work in the United States. His work is infused with imagery derived from his experiences growing up as a person of Algerian Muslim heritage in the often alienated and alienating culture of the Parisian suburbs.
