Speaking of Portland again, the work of the Henry’s own Bob Rini, Seattle artist Jim Woodring, and their cartoonist salon Friends of the Nib was recently on view at the fabulous Floating World Comics.  In conjunction with the show, on Tuesday of this week Rini and Woodring appeared in conversation on KBOO.FM’s “Words & Pictures”, a monthly forum for cartooners and animators.

During the interview, they discuss Friends of the Nib, a creative gathering Rini and Woodring host at Cafe Racer, located right here in the U-District.  In Cafe Racer’s back room, among a hodgepodge of retro furniture and what Woodring describes as “your parent’s rumpus room”, Friends of the Nib engage in their artistic processes together on a weekly basis.

You can listen to the full interview here, and if you’re interested in the work of Jim Woodring, Ellen Forney, or Peter Bagge be sure to catch the Comics Forum at the Frye on March 27 at  7 PM.  For your regular dose of Bob Rini, check out his blog The Nine Pound Hammer.
