I am an unabashed fan of Kalup Linzy. The combination of humor, pathos, skill, and surprise in his video projects and performances is incredible. His work is laced with shrewd truths about race, class, sex, love, family, and stereotyping and wrapped in a package that SAM’s website aptly describes as “Part Richard Pryor, part RuPaul.”
He is performing at Seattle Art Museum next Thursday and you should all, gentle readers, totally GO.
Henry members are eligible for the SAM Members price of $6, which is totally a STEAL. Just call the SAM Box Office at 206.654.3121call to get your tickets, and tell them you’re a Henry member. You can also visit the ticketing desk at any of SAM’s three sites, and show your Henry membership card to get the deal.
Here’s sneak preview — Linzy performing Proud Mary with, ahem, James Franco. Enjoy, and I’ll see you there, next week.
