Fuses on Film

Our 16mm Copy of Carolee Schneemann’s Fuses arrived today just in time to test the reel before Saturday’s Symposium, and I couldn’t be more thrilled (thank you Canyon Cinema). As part of our day of discussion we will be screening a copy of Fuses in the Henry’s auditorium with an introduction by Joe Milutis, Assistant Professor, Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences at UW Bothell. Although the film is currently on view downstairs in the exhibition, Carolee Schneemann: Within and Beyond the Premises, we felt that this might be an excellent opportunity to not only discuss the film in a more exploded context but to also explore the dual sensibilities of exhibiting film and address what impact format, visitor intention, and social experience can have on the viewing experience. I love the acrid scent of 16mm film.

Reserve your tickets to the Symposium here!

16 mm!?! How thrilling! I wish that “beam-me-up” thingy that Star Trek promised really existed! I would be there from Texas in a heartbeat!
