This weekend is shaping up to be a BEAUTIFUL sunny saturday to come visit the Henry! The Blossoms are blooming and we’ve got a whole range of awesome activities for teens and families all afternoon from free tours and photography workshops to poetry and art activities in the Skyspace and ed studio. There something for every thinker, maker, observer, and do-er in your family. Also, did I mention its FREE?!

Saturday 1-4pm

Cherry BLOSSOM @ The Henry

CREATE, EXPLORE, MUSE, PLAY and TOUR the exhibition Shadows of a Fleeting World: Pictorial Photography and Seattle Camera Club during Cherry BLOSSOM, a FREE all-ages celebration of springtime and the Seattle Camera Club. This afternoon of activities includes guided tours, art activities, readings in the Sky Space, a hands-on photo adventure and more!

Meet in the Henry’s Education Studio for art activities and spring screenings of your favorite films. Fold an origami cherry blossom or grab a cup o’ crayons to personalize your own coloring book, Panda Panda, which was created by Seattle-based artist Jeffry Mitchell especially for the Henry in 2004.

For the love of photography! Join Youth in Focus student volunteers Kari, Duy, Tristan and Jestoni for a photo adventure exploring the techniques of pictorial photography on the University of Washington Campus. Participants will be given their own cameras with which to capture the visual poetry of springtime. Photographs taken during this excursion will be developed and displayed in the Henry’s cafe starting May 1st, so don’t forget to come back and see your work! Adventures depart at 1:30pm and 2:30pm – space is limited and first-come, first-served.

Join writer, educator, and performance artist Rachel Kessler in the James Terrell Sky Space for a poetic exploration of spring. Rachel is a founding member of the literary performance art groups The Typing Explosion and the Vis-à-Vis Society with collaborative poems featured in Tin House, TATE, and USAToday.

Join Henry exhibition guides for a special 30 minute guided tour of dancers, landscapes, portraits, and KITTENS in Shadows of a Fleeting World: Pictorial Photography and Seattle Camera Club. Tours begin at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm in the North Galleries.

Join Sally Homann from Meter Music School for a little Kindermusik in the Henry’s Sculpture Court from 2-3pm! For more information on Summer Camps, Classes, and lessons at Meter Music School visit their website at
