You might remember Gary’s work from some past Henry exhibitions:

Tall Ships, part of the Henry permanent collection, was in Wow: The Work of the Work, North Galleries
November 6, 2004 – February 6, 2005

Mouth Open, Teeth Showing: Major Works from the True Collection, Stroum Gallery
June 23, 2007 – September 23, 2007

Gary Hill exhibition, North Galleries
June 7, 1994 – August 14, 1994

15th Ave Studio #2: The Mechanics of Contemplation, North Galleries
August 3, 1987 – October 4, 1987

We are also planning an exhibition of works not previously shown in Seattle in our South Galleries, which Gary will take over in the winter and spring of 2012.

Gary Hill is the most famous artist from Seattle that nobody from Seattle knows about. This year alone, he’s showing in Brussels, Long Beach, New York (three times), Moscow, Yokohama, Halifax, Berlin, Vienna, Essen (Germany), Chattanooga (Tennessee), Prague, Athens, Sydney, Chicago, Montreal—and that’s just temporary exhibitions, not including all the museums around the world where his videos are on regular display as part of the permanent collection.

Check out the Stranger article on Gary’s win here and read about his awesome reaction.
