Wave Books’ time at the Henry for Shelf Life has sadly come to an end. Thanks to all the Shelf Life volunteers and gallery visitors who stopped by, said hello, and helped sew, stamp, and staple. Over the course of four weeks, Wave was able to make 500 sewn copies of Noelle Kocot’s Poet by Default, 250 staplebound copies of Matthew Rohrer’s Translations from Hafiz, 250 sewn copies of a chapbook of Mallarme’s 59 English Phrases to Learn by Heart, 350 broadsides from Micrograms and Into the Snow, and 400 postcards!
Poet by Default will be available for purchase through the Wave Books website on October 1st. You can get the rest of the materials by coming to Wave’s 2nd annual festival, 3 Days of Poetry, here at the Henry November 4th, 5th, and 6th. This year’s theme is 3 Days of Poetry: Poetry in Translation. Tickets will be available mid-September.
Shelf Life is the Henry’s summer ode to BOOKS and READING. From July 1 – October 16th, the Henry has invited book lovers from various fields — independent publishers, librarians, poets, writers, designers, and, most importantly, readers — to share with us what they do and why they love to do it.
