It’s back to school time! All of us at the Henry are gearing up for a very busy fall quarter. We have five new exhibitions opening this fall: Camera Nipponica: Photographs from Japan, 1880-1930 on September 7, The Photographs of Ray K. Metzker and David Hartt: Stray Light on September 21 and Jason Dodge: What We Have Done and Haegue Yang: Anachronistic Layers of Dispersion on October 19.
You’re welcome to see them as soon as the doors open, but mark your calendars now for our October 25th Open House to officially celebrate this abundance of photography and art.
Coming up this week
With fall arriving, we are sending our summer Bike Friday program out in style. Join us this Friday for a ride from the Henry to Bainbridge Island where riders will be treated to a tour of Classic Cycle’s Historic Bike Collection followed by a tour and reception at the newly open Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. And as it is Bainbridge’s First Friday Artwalk, you are encourage to stay and tour the art venues in downtown Winslow and grab at bite at one of the Island’s many restaurants. Cyclists will meet at the Henry at 3 pm for the ride down to the ferry. The event is FREE; excepting your ferry fare and whatever food and drink you later decide upon.
ArtVENTURES at the Henry (formerly known as Family Sundays) is this Sunday! Artist Carolina Silva will lead a tour through Paul Laffoley: Premonitions of the Bauhauroque and then bring familes back to the Education Studio to create a large scale art piece that celebrates each person’s personal narrative with the physical world. Did you meet Carolina at our Arty Party last May? She was such a hit with the kiddos that we had to bring her back!
